Size: ~10mm
Another syrphid in our garden on Euryops. I find it very difficult to differentiate between Syrphus & Eupeodes, as well as Scaeva. I'll post a couple of images, hoping that one or both might be identifiable to genus or even species.

Margined abdomen and shiny thorax suggests genus Eupeodes.
