Another syrphid in our garden on Euryops. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

Markings on tergite 2 overlap
Markings on tergite 2 overlapping edge of tergite. Thorax somewhat pruinose with longtitudinal pale stripes. I think this is Syrphus opinator.
