Looks good to me.
But I checked some other pictures, and I think I'm going to wait for confirmation from Eric? Seems there might be some debate about this species?

No objections to L. kalmii.
I do wonder if anyone has done molecular work on these yet, to determine whehter there is only one species....You could always prompt Dr. Jane O'Donnell, an expert on the family who occasionally visits here to help with IDs (for which we are extremely grateful!).

Lygaeus kalmii
I agree with John also, would you mind pointing us to the area or photo where you saw the debate about this species?

This is one of several pictures...
Where John and Jane Balaban (my mistake) posted a comment that there might be some question to the identity of this sort of bug.

Lygaeus kalmii
With many species/genus that have some variability there is always an ongoing discussion about whether there is a larger number of species each with there own patterns or fewer species with a lot of different forms. But I think that with BugGuide's current understanding yours falls right into Lygaeus kalmii with no problem at all. The one you were refering to, used to be located in Lygaeus kalmii but was later moved to Lygaeus turcicus due to it having a different pattern than yours. JMHO
