Size: 3/4 inches long
i found him in the windowsill around april dead, but i dont know how long he could have been there although he was not terribly dried out so it seemed that he had just died.

I suspect this is a.....
9887 - Bethune's Pinion Moth - Lithophane bethunei. Only problem is that there are a couple of other Pinions that are quite similar, so I'm not totally certain I am correct.

 
I'd vote for it
Lithophane bethunei is quite pale, and yet the whitish oval near the anal angle seems to stand out (at least to my eye). I think the grayish patches and other markings are a good match too. Compare together with some other similar species.
