Is this a wasp? - Chyphotes - Female
Twentynine Palms, Riverside County, California, USA
July 23, 2019
Size: 1cm
I found this around 9PM, and mistook it for a queen ant. I caught 2, and they move very fast. They are covered with hair, have straight antennae when relaxed and no sign of having had wings. They seem to play possum, when they are threatened. I found it in Twentynine Palms, CA a day after monsoon weather. I do not know if it is an adult or not.
