Checkerspot
I'm not sure that we can rule out the Sagebrush Checkerspot, Chlosyne acastus. (widespread-western) Hold on for an expert.

 
Oh yes, that looks good. And
Oh yes, that looks good. And I see the range is much more fitting. The habitat reads right as well. Much better choice than Northern Checkerspot. I'm just learning about some of these butterflies. Thank you!
