Robberfly sp. - Taracticus octopunctatus

Robberfly sp. - Taracticus octopunctatus
Lasalle, Essex, Ontario, Canada
August 1, 2019
Size: 3/4inch
I found this robberfly sp. resting on a leaf. It sat there for 3 min while I snapped pictures, then spotted a flying insect and chased it down and ate it. I have all of it on video. I first noticed this robberfly sp. by spotting a bigger black one resting on a leaf about 4 inches away from this r.fly. I watched to see if the bigger one was going to attack the bug beside it and then I noticed it was a new robberfly sp. for me to see. The black one flew away and I was able to snap a bunch of pictures and take video. However, unfortunately I didn't notice it take down some prey in my viewfinder and only found out when I got home that it had caught something. Very cool looking robberfly imo. Can't find ID for it !!
