Curicaberis - Curicaberis - female

Curicaberis - Curicaberis - Female
Mayer , Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
August 1, 2019
Size: 1 inch
Since first observing these Sparassidae I no longer believe this is a Olios giganteus. At this time I had not observed these Curicaberis and now have seen many of both Male and female and of them mating. They are a rusty red color the Male has a grey abdomen. They are quite different characteristically than the pale C bibranchiatus.

Moved from Olios giganteus.

That makes much more sense, thanks Marcus.

Curicaberis
Probably bibranchiatus, abnormis is more common around tucson and santa cruz co.

Def not olios, the abdomen is wrong.

Curicaberis bibranchiatus
You are right, I found a male and compared palps photo 1933733for the comparison pictures.

Olios giganteuos
Thank you

Olios giganteus
Wanting to confirm this is Olis giganteus. Thank you for all help in advance.

IThe color of the chelicera is black
in O. giganteus, but that feature is not visible in your images

Olios giganteus
The only other Sparassidae she could be would be Curucaberis and both Curucaberis bibrachiatus and abnormis are much paler more of a light blond coloring. They are also much smaller with a smaller leg span and abdominal span.

Olios giganteus
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a close up of just her chelicerae. The criteria for Olios giganteus is that the chelicerae is to be darker than it's body. It's not always black there's variations, some are a dark red.

Curicaberis bibranchiatus
It's since been found that the species on this 2 acres is Curicaberis bibranchiatus. After finding a male and comparing palps, they matched the bibranchiatus and not the abnormis. Thank you all for everything. Photo 1933733 for palp comparison pictures.
