Shamrock spider in her retreat - Araneus trifolium - Female
Brossard, Quebec, Canada
September 1, 2007
A shamrock spider resting in a retreat at the edge of the web. Usually these spiders are fairly easy to find around here, but last year I saw only one; I don’t know if this was just bad luck, or the weather or if they are slowly declining? This one was part brown and partly green; others are all green or all brown, but I have never figured out if they change from one to the other colour as they age, or if it is a permenant variation between individuals
