Moth!
Wow! I know it's a hawk moth...
...female? I ask this because it has tufts on it's tush associated with making pheromones.

Ah! Is it a squash-vine borer?

I'm obscenly jealous (not literally)! XD
At the end of last year's fall season, I stumbled across a small gathering of feeding snowberry clearwing caterpillars (a related moth).
Sadly, I wanted nothing more then to photograph but my camera had been broken (I dropped it by accident due to late-night fatigue). I stopped by almost every day to see that nothing ill came of them (unfortunately a couple got stepped on). Yet, despite my efforts, but the time my camera was fixed it was winter & the had all left the spot where I found them.

...Maybe next year... :C

Thank you!!
Thank you!!

Your welcome. :3
You know... BugGuide.net is one of the few places where I not only feel accepted, but also appreciated & useful. :D
(I'm use to being seen as a nerd. lol)

Scratch that...
It's not a squash-vine borer... the markings are wrong... but I bet it's in the same genus.
