Calyptillus cryptops

Calyptillus cryptops
Edgewood, Torrance County, New Mexico, USA
April 30, 1986
Size: 2.9 mm
This is one of the "dirt-encrusted" weevils. This was treated to a bath in hot ammonia/detergent water. No effect- that dirt is glued on! A distinguishing feature is the bump covering the eye.
