Size: WS 20 mm
Came to BL in willow wetland. By morning had laid about ten bright yellow eggs on container walls. Adult unresponsive, so collected. By evening of August 9 caterpillars were observed. Offered a woodland sedge, dandelion, lady fern, tear-thumb smartweed, red oak, cherry, and willow. By August 13 one was seen eating willow and no other feeding was observed. By August 15 clear that the youngest reddish leaves of willow were preferred and all other foods discontinued. On August 14 observed a pronounced ventral tuck/curl posture similar to that seen in Orthonama obstipata. By August 19 (day 10) alive and feeding but not much grown.
