Bee Feeding on Rosinweed - Bombus fraternus

Bee Feeding on Rosinweed - Bombus fraternus
Junction City, 15 mi. SE, Bottomland prairie restoration, Geary County, Kansas, USA
August 19, 2019
Striking are the tan hairs that surround the black bulb on the thorax, with lighter hairs in the outer circle; and the "bands" across the abdomen. There appear to be at least two bands of pale, straw-colored hairs on the first two segments of the abdomen, and at least two almost-bare black bands on the next segments, and finally a wide shaggy black band, very hairy.
