Scaphinotus elevatus - male

Scaphinotus elevatus - Male
Maryland, USA
Size: 23 mm
From the University of Maryland at College Park teaching collection. Thanks to Charles Mitter for providing loan. No other data is available but probably from College Park Maryland, late 1800 to early 1900. The strong contrast between the dark purple pronotum and the bright reddish/coppery elytra would distinguish this specimen as S. e. elevatus rather than S. e. tenebricosus.
