Bee - Nomia maneei? - Nomia maneei - female

Bee - Nomia maneei? - Nomia maneei - Female
St. Augustine, St. Johns Co. County, Florida, USA
August 22, 2019
Size: 9.5 mm
This small Nomia looks like it might be a female Nomia maneii. It has a median line on its clypeus, a trait of this species noted here: https://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?act=x_ant&path=Insecta/Hymenoptera/Apoidea/Halictidae/Nomia/maneei&name=Nomia+maneei&authority=Cockerell,+1910.

The bee has three opalescent bands on its abdomen that iridesce a greenish-blue. It is smaller than a typical Nomia nortoni, the other Nomia species found here (9.5 mm vs 16 mm). This female was part of a large group of similar bees found feeding on milkpea (Galactia), a plant associated with Nomia maneii. The milkpea is located in a North Florida coastal hickory-oak forest with sandy soil.
