wasp on mountain summit - Protichneumon grandis
Mount Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
August 20, 2019
Fairly large wasp that appeared to be nesting in a rock wall at the summit of Mt. Washington (6,288ft). Syrphid flies and wasps were abundant and I tried to photograph as many as possible. Amazing to see so much diversity on a bare rock face devoid of most other life.
