White-banded Fishing Spider - Dolomedes albineus - female

White-banded Fishing Spider - Dolomedes albineus - Female
Rome, Floyd County, Georgia, USA
This individual is an adult captive-bred female White-banded Fishing Spider (Dolomedes albineus). The photo was taken sometime around mid-January. She had already produced two large, healthy eggsacs in the fall of 2007. She is very large for a White-banded Fishing Spider, and is actually a 3rd generation descendant of an individual I caught near a lake at James H. "Sloppy" Floyd state park several years ago.
