now that I was able to compare this specimen to examples from California (thanks to Glen Forister) that better fit my species concept of T. vorax. This specimen really does not fit well any of the four Tachys known in Arizona, including the questionable T. miscellus LaFerte-Senectere [= syn. T. lymnaeoides Bates, 1882]. In fact, I believe it should belong to subgenus Tachys based on coarser dorsal microsculpture and position of anterior discal setae closer to elytral stria #3. This specimen appears to suffer a diagnostic fate similar to the Arizona specimen posted under BugGuide #883352. This particular Arizona specimen belongs either to an undescribed species or to one of the several obscure, more southern Tachys treated by Bate (1882). For now I'm moving this page to T. (Tachys) "undescribed-one" as a flag to attract the attention of experts.

Tachys (Paratachys) vorax LeConte is my physical determination for this specimen which is added to the PWM synoptic set of North American Caraboidea. Known in Arizona, this specimen appears to fit previous descriptive accounts and the holotype imaged at https://mczbase.mcz.harvard.edu/guid/MCZ:Ent:5569
