Moved
Moved from Schizogenius litigiosus based on my restudy of Whitehead's 1972 key to the species and a re-examination of Margarethe's specimen corresponding to this post. There are three Arizona members in this group: longipennis, chircahuanus, neovalidus. Male genitalia study is required for secure separation of species. Whitehead's distinguishing external characters for this group depend on color and perhaps body size. Unfortunately color can be quite variable depending on maturity status. Tentatively I favor chircahuanus based on smallest size (~ 5 mm or less), front femur reddish, pronotum reddish (not readily visible in photo). I weighed the pronotal color as a heavier trait than elytral color, athough I admit Whitehead did the opposite.
