Good catch. You are definitly right about constricted neck of the pronotum. Thanks.

I have a tendency to think this is a damsel bug. 8mm is a bit small for most assassins. The pronotum also has a constricted neck and if I squint (or wish) hard enough, I can see a number of smaller cells on the apical margin of the wing membrane.

this is an Assasin bug. it is a true bug. you can tell by the v shape on the top its abdomen near its thorax. They are also called bee assasins.

this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but some of the BG images of broad-headed bugs look similar to me?
