Thanks for the correction, and for the tip...
...about the palps. Honestly, I am almost afraid now to post photos of tortricids because so often I feel like I am reposting photos of C. peritana, or something else that I have had ID'd for me before, and yet it is so hard to be sure!
Thanks again!

This seems to be Clepsis peritana
I will move it there unless there are any objections.

Beautiful moth!
Looks like it's covered in lichen.

lichen...is that a possibility?
I have been considering posting a topic in the photography forum here because this in not an altogether uncommon look on the moths that I have photographed. I generally have little choice but to use a flash. Could this be the result of reflective parts of the moth causing the less reflective areas to appear darker than they are? In this case I was using the built in flash, and at it's lowest output, however, I was necessarily very close to the rather small moth.
Since I just wrote the question I may as well post it in the forum, however, I invite any comments from readers of this post as well!

Thanks, Bob...
...I think there may have be both a male and a female present, however the other one of the pair was too elusive to be photographed. Thanks, Again!
