Hippomelas planicauda
This is Hippomelas planicauda.

Hippomelas parkeri Nelson
Nelson, G. H. & C. L. Bellamy. 1996. A revision of the subtribe Hippomelanina: Hippomelas Laporte and Gory, Prasinalia Casey, Gyascutus (Stictocera) Casey, and Barrellus, gen. nov. (Coleoptera: Buprestidae). Journal of Natural History 30:861-911.

H. planicauda larger than parkeri
I am certainly no beetle expert, but according to Bill Warner in AZ, who consulted a key by Bellamy & Nelson, H. parkeri don't get longer than 19 mm, so at ~30 mm my beetle seems more likely to be H. planicauda.

I did not see the size, and pronotum is more broader rather than slender. Good call

H parkeri
Interesting - how do you separate parkeri from planicauda?
