Tiny wasp? - Ocyptamus fuscipennis - female

Tiny wasp? - Ocyptamus fuscipennis - Female
Outside Richmond, Hanover County, Virginia, USA
September 4, 2019
Size: 1/8"
Sorry for poor images, but it was tiny like a mosquito, but longer. There was a group of them, and they never sat still for more than a nanosecond, It looks like they may have been feeding on aphids - yea!

Female - Syrphid Fly

Syrphid fly
Wow, so will the eggs hatch, then feed on the Aphids? Thanks for the ID and info!

Maybe
You might want to look at the Unidentified pages here and here and here for more info about identifying and rearing them.

Additional info
Thanks for the links. Fascinating stuff, but I don’t think we’ll go so far as rearing them. Do people do it to control their Aphid population? So now I think I might know what some little dark spots were on a pillar outside of the house. I took photos on 8-19, and will post one. Larva? The flies I saw today were flitting a couple of feet away from the possible larvae.
