Interesting caterpillar or slug type bug - Euclea

Interesting caterpillar or slug type bug - Euclea
Linville, Avery County, North Carolina, USA
September 4, 2019
Size: 1/2 inch approximately
I found this on some Lady's Mantel. Does anyone know what it is?

Moved to Euclea sp. for expert identification.
Moved from ID Request.

This is a Slug Moth Caterpillar in the family Limacodidae. I have left it at the genus level because there are many species. Hopefully, an expert will be able to take it further but I suspect the caterpillars are a tough job.
