Is this a sawfly larvae? I haven’t ever seen a pink one.

How about Cimbex americana? (Elm Sawfly). They do go for Basswood, and they do come in pink with this pattern: . Looks like you'd be the first Wisconsin record for September on bugguide. Nice find!
