Callosamia securifera - The Sweetbay Moth (7766)
Alan has made a simple mistake. Callosamia angulifera is found farther north where Tulip trees exist. Callosamia securifera larvae feed on Sweetbay (Magnolia virginiana) and Sweetbay trees are common near the gas station where Alan took this picture.
