Explanation of Names
cupressi is Latin for "of cypress": the original species account refers to the larvae as living on "Cupressus thuioides" (current name Chamaecyparis thyoides)

Although the larvae have been reported as feeding on Atlantic White Cedar, Chamaecyparis thyoides, their main food plant is the Baldcypress, Taxodium distichum.
