Insect 1 - Arilus cristatus

Insect 1 - Arilus cristatus
Deltaville, Deltaville County, Virginia, USA
September 10, 2019
Size: 1"
This insect was on top of our boat in a boatyard in Deltaville. It was late morning on a sunny day. I didn't see it come or fly away. But I've never seen one with a spiked back.

Wheel Bug
Thanks for the lightning-fast identification. Part of the Assasin bug family. My husband got bitten by one of those once. Very painful.
