Possible Arctiini caterpillar - Gynaephora rossii
Jackson - near Lake of the Clouds , White Mountains County, New Hampshire, USA
September 10, 2019
Size: ~5 cm
Spotted several of these caterpillars at around 5000' elevation, near Lake of the Clouds hut in the White Mountains. Well above the tree line. All caterpillars were spotted on rocks on or near hiking trail. Belive them to be Arctiini tribe, but unsure of genus or species.

Wonder if it might be
or be related to Gynaephora groenlandica ?
Can't find much on that species :(

Possible Gynaephora groenlandica
Thank you! looked at Gynaephora genus and realized it is probably Gynaephora rossii. I was WAY off with my attempt at identification. G. rossii are found in the White Mountains (where these were spotted) with saxifraga as a food source (of which there is plenty).
