Spittle Bug - Clastoptera xanthocephala

Spittle Bug - Clastoptera xanthocephala
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
March 9, 2008
Size: 3mm (1/8")
Some sort of weird small hopper. Please help with ID.

Moved from Clastoptera.

Clastoptera xanthocephala
Called the "sunflower spittlebug" although they feed on all sorts of things.

Spittle bug adult.
This is an adult spittle bug in the genus Clastoptera, facing right:-) Hey, in the field I can never tell which way they are headed. More than once I've put my vial at the 'wrong' end. LOL!

I noticed that after I got it on the computer but they have those "false eye" looking spots on the back end :-O
