Sawfly
Thanks for the ID. I'm not surprised. I also have what I think is birch sawfly larva. I have lots of birch, alders, maples and sumac and everything has bugs or caterpillars eating the leaves.

Do you remember host plant?
Looks similar to Striped Alder Sawfly larvae...
