Western Pondhawk female or immature male - Erythemis collocata

Western Pondhawk female or immature male - Erythemis collocata
Los Angeles River, Glendale, Los Angeles County, California, USA
September 12, 2019
Size: approx 2 cm.
A patch of Floating Primrose Willow and other plants line a section of the LA River and are visited by many insects, including this green Western Pondhawk. Likely a female or an immature male, it was motionless on a stem, then quickly flew several feet to a nearby plant, where it captured a damselfly and began to feed.
