Calligrapha wickhami Bowditch, 1911

originally coll'ed by Henry Wickham

Size

around 8 mm

Identification

Shortly oval, with characteristic pattern in brick red to reddish brown; pronotum also with pattern of basically 9 maculae, merging into another -

this unique in the north American fauna (only C. verrucosa with pronotal spotted pattern, but different)

Range

sky island mountains of w. Texas / w. Mex. - Map (1)(2)

Food

both larvae and adults asso. w/ Skeleton-leaf Goldeneye, Viguiera stenoloba (Asteraceae) (3)

Remarks

Type Locality: Alpine, Brewster Co., Texas
