yellow caterpillar - Phoebis sennae

yellow caterpillar - Phoebis sennae
Seminole, Florida, Pinellas County, Florida, USA
March 1, 2008
Size: 1 1/2 inches
It is about 1 1/2 inches long. Eats the yellow flowers on a bush. i don't know the name of the bush but i know it is meant to be a host for a butterfly of some sort. i believe it turns green at maturity which makes it very hard to find in the leaves.

Phoebis sennae (Cloudless Sulphur)
See http://bugguide.net/node/view/138477/bgimage Larvae may also be green if eating leaves but are usually yellow when eating flower buds and flowers.
