Superficially seems to resemble a Shieldbacked Pine Seed Bug (Tetyra bipunctata) (??) [Compare vs. BG images 1045633 & 75758.] I didn’t get an accurate measurement but it was in the neighborhood of 15 mm long.

On the trunk of an American Beech tree (Fagus grandifolia) near an ephemeral wetland in a mixed pine/ deciduous forest. (Thanks)
