Camel Cricket - good pets?

Hi!

I was wondering if camel crickets could be invasive in the north east,

also wondering if any of you have raised them.

Thank you,

attached is a photo of one from Jackson, Wy.

Camel Cricket

Cannibalistic creatures - not
Cannibalistic creatures - not sure if I could raise them.

They need lots of space and protein...
Some species may be full on predatory. Many do get along with each other though if given lots of surface area and protein sources...

The one in the photo is a Mormon cricket...
A katydid.

Actual Camel crickets aren't that difficult to rear, but can be quite cannibalistic and territorial, and thus must be given plenty of room and surface area, as well as protein rich foods. Northern strains of some species may need a winter diapause for breeding. Some species may be flat out predatory and would need to be kept separately.

are you sure that's a camel cricket?
take a look at the Shield-backed Katydids. It might be worth cropping the photo to "just the bug" and submitting it to ID Request

curious
I was hoping the original poster would let us know what happened. It piqued my curiosity since I've raised a few different katydids and a few different crickets.
