Chrysopa quadripunctata

Chrysopa quadripunctata
Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
September 24, 2019
This one keys out to Chrysopa quadripunctata in the 1903 Banks (1) and 2000 Penny et al. (2) keys.

The last couplet of the Penny et al. key distinguishes between C. quadripunctata and C. slossonae on the basis of length/width ratio of the forewing costal cells above the origin of the radial sector vein (ratio of "at most" 2 vs. 3, respectively). The ratio in this lacewing is ~1.2.
C. slossonae isn't included in the 1903 Banks key because he didn't describe that species until 1924.
