twig-mimic inchworm in a bog - Hethemia pistasciaria
Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont, USA
July 27, 2019
I found this well-camouflaged critter during a field trip of the Dragonfly Society of the Americas, Northeast Chapter (or NEDSA) annual meeting, which deliberately coincided with the annual bioblitz for the Black River Action Team (BRAT). We were at the North Springfield Bog. I recognized it only to tribe; Sam Jaffe (of The Caterpillar Lab) identified it to species for me.
