Milde's Tarantula Hawk Wasp - Pepsis mildei - female

Milde's Tarantula Hawk Wasp - Pepsis mildei - Female
Pasadena - Arroyo Seco, Los Angeles County, California, USA
September 29, 2019
Size: approx. 2 inches
Hiking in the Arroyo Seco in Pasadena, I encountered this huge glowing blue wasp with orange antennae and wings... probably 2 inches in length. In fact, it is so large that it has difficulty accessing individual blossoms to feed. Like a clumsy acrobat... but beautiful to behold!
