Small moth, brown tones, in rabbit barn with open ends - Pyralis farinalis - female

Small moth, brown tones, in rabbit barn with open ends - Pyralis farinalis - Female
Conroe, Tx, Montgomery County, Texas, USA
September 30, 2019
Size: 1/2” long 5/8” wide
Seemingly attracted to rabbit droppings and/or urine. May also be attracted to black soldier fly larvae (Hermetia illucens (L.), Diptera: Stratiomydiae) pheromones (which I encourage for odor & fly control). More active at night. Larvae encased in flat ‘cocoons’ crawl up cage supports (38-50” high). Seem uninterested in rabbit feed pellets, but interested in water crocks (and are evidently very poor swimmers). No hay or straw has been used since May. Undeterred by fans/air movement. Current temperatures are 85-90F days, mid to low 70’s F nights. Humidity 50-80%.
