The light reflecting on the w
The light reflecting on the wings obscures the yellow/orange markings on tergites but I`m sure they are there.
Chalcosyrphus is a good call with the hind femur narrowing BEFORE and
not TO tip.
Note veins at base of wing are noticebly orange compared with rest of wing and this with the amount of white on hind tibia makes me think C. anthreas too.
Records from Mississippi makes Louisiana a distinct possibility.

The combination of the traits
The combination of the traits I can see (mostly leg coloration and facial pollinosity) plus the location makes me think of:
C. anthreas (perhaps a bit out of range) - hind tibiae broadly white at base, 2 sets of abdominal maculae
C. metallicus - hind tibiae medium white at base, pale front/midlegs, 2 sets of abdominal maculae, but the femur is not pale at the base in this fly
C. metallifer - white pollinose face, but this fly has pale fore/mid legs unlike metallifer
C. nemorum - hind tibiae narrowly white at base, 2 sets abdominal maculae, this fly's hind tibiae may have a bit too much white
So either anthreas or nemorum is my vote, leaning towards anthreas.
