Rove Beetle - Acylophorus

Rove Beetle - Acylophorus
Plum Island, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA
March 18, 2008
Size: 7.5mm
Found under a board on the beach.

Thanks Adam
I'll try to get a good lateral shot. It wouldn't sit still for me, even after chilling, so this was the best out of 5 shots.

This rove belongs in Staphyli
This rove belongs in Staphylininae. This is most likely a species of Acylophorus from Quediina. Acylophorus would be the best fit considering those long first antennomeres and that it was found near water. An anterior or lateral shot, if available, would resolve this from 85% to 100% certainty.
