Unidentified leaf miner - Aspilanta hydrangaeella

Unidentified leaf miner - Aspilanta hydrangaeella
Along Appalachian Trail southbound from Devil's Fork Gap., Madison County, North Carolina, USA
October 5, 2019
I found two leaf mines on Hydrangea arborescens on a rich hardwood slope. I am attaching both an upper surface image, along with two backlit images of two mines (one showing the larva). These start out as sinuous linear mines, then expand into blotches with time.
