Otiorhynchus singularis? - Otiorhynchus singularis

Otiorhynchus singularis? - Otiorhynchus singularis
Fort Wilkins State Park, Keweenaw County, Michigan, USA
September 25, 2019
Size: ~9 mm TL
The only other species in the genus that this resembles is O. raucus. However, O. raucus appears to have a uniformly dark pronotum that is somewhat visibly hairy. The pronotum on this individual is not visibly hairy and is pale on the sides much like the BugGuide images of O. singularis. Also, the femur on this weevil has a darker ring just above the joint with tibia, much like that seen on other images of O. singularis on BG. If confirmed, it would appear the range of this species could be expanding to more central locations of N. America.

sure is... lovely shot
