odd how the antennae are drawn in

 
Browsing thru the photos,
I notice this is the case in a number of them. It appears many of these are not specimens. I hate to guess at why this species is not consistent.

a characteristic stance can be helpful for ID
the antennae look pretty delicate--can they fold them in somewhere?
