Ghost Moth - Annaphila astrologa

Size: ~3/4 in

2nd of 2 images - uppers - Sorry for the fuzzy images - shot thru a sandwich bag. Tried to get better pic, but it got away - fast little critter. Made 3 trips up the canyon to photo this critter, but could not get close to it. Only saw it perch twice; it spread its wings just like a brushfoot, so I originally thought it was a mystery butterfly. On the 4th trip, I took a net and finally got to photo. It kind of looks like some kind of underwing. A lot of effort to get these poor shots - would really like to know if someone can ID. I've looked at underwings on mpg and Walsh's site, but can't find it. It is a day flyer.

J.D. and J&J. It sure looks to be Annaphila astrologa. Hartmut's comments on his post of Annaphila really sound exactly like this critter, including size an appearance. Couldn't find an image of Pogonogenys anywhere.

Annaphila

This is one of the Annaphila species, but I'm not certain which. Might be Annaphila astrologa.

Have seen something similar

as Pogonogenys proximalis, but haven't been able to track down any images yet. Will keep looking.
