Geotrupes balyi? - Geotrupes balyi
Mountain Lake Biological Station, Giles County, Virginia, USA
August 14, 2019
Like the G. hornii I just posted, the sutural striae seem to bend around the scutellum instead of ending at it, the antennal clubs are light brown, but the beetle seems to show some blue iridescence as opposed to the jet black G. hornii as remarked by Frank Guarnieri. It's possible the iridescence is just the lighting though.
