Pterostichus - Abacidus - Pterostichus

Pterostichus - Abacidus - Pterostichus
Tulsa County, Oklahoma, USA
November 15, 2018
Size: 14mm
I collected this specimen in a pitfall trap near the Arkansas River in Tulsa County. I keyed it to Pterostichus (subgenus Abacidus) using Arnett and Thomas (2001). It doesn't appear to be any of the three Abacidus species listed on BugGuide, and supposedly that only leaves Pterostichus fallax or Pterosticus hamiltoni. I'm not having much luck tracking down a reliable photo of either to confirm. I can furnish additional images if needed. I'm no expert, so any help would be appreciated.

Abacidus
There aren't any described Abacidus with that extreme elytral sculpture. P. fallax and P. hamiltoni look very similar to the species posted on the guide already.

Did you catch multiple individuals with this same elytral sculpturing? Any males?
Even if it is just a one-off mutation, that's one of the coolest things I've seen on this site!

Abacidus
I only collected the one individual like that. I think it is a male based on the front tarsi. I also collected a bunch of other more ordinary Abacidus at that location (and every other site). I've contemplated putting out traps at that spot again since I collected it around this time last year. I'm pretty time-stressed currently so it may not happen. I'll add a photo of the front tarsi.
