Nicrophorus sp -
Nicrophorus tomentosus
Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA

Nice example of Nicrophorus sp with mites riding along. Anyone know which Nicrophorus sp this is and what sp the mite is?

Thorax is different
The tomentosus thorax is dull. This one has a shiny thorax. Why not N. sayi or N. defodiens?

Pronotum
Pronotum for tomentosus has gold hairs on it; that's all that's really required for ID. Your beetle has them; they're just mostly rubbed off.
Sayi has orange antennal clubs, curved hind tibia, and no hairs on the pronotum. The elytral markings are also different.
Defodiens - elytral markings are different (notably the apical ones), pronotum not hairy at all.
