Unknown insect egg/lavae? - Microcentrum

Unknown insect egg/lavae? - Microcentrum
Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, USA
October 19, 2019
Size: 4mm?
Today, I used one of my surplus cedar 2x4s for a project, and noticed a collection of something (about 1.5 inches long) on one edge of the 2x4. I brushed it off, and learned that it was squishy. I looked in my back yard for another cedar 2x4, and found another similar collection, again only on an edge. The collection is about 1.5 inches long, and only on one edge of the 2x4. Must be eggs or larva of something that likes cedar? The eggs or whatever they are seem to have a small appendage on one edge.
